Travelling with Tape Art through the world

This art project was a part of the Touring Consumption Conference 2013 at Karlshochschule International University in Karlsruhe, Germany. Isabella Blatter, Hauke Pflüger and me, Moritz Wittkamp were the participating tape artist. Most of the design patterns are based on sketches by Isabella Blatter. All in all the are four main patterns used: city-/landscapes, hands, main attractions and a metro network. The metro is used as the guidance line which connects the whole building with tape art elemtents. Static and immobil elements are in contrast to the flowing metro lines and the main elements which are grabbed by the taped hands. The idea behind these grabbed elements leads to the philosophy of the university itself and its multiperspective approach on science. The viewer of the tape art patterns can decide for himself if he or she thinks that the main attraction are put into or pulled out of the city-/landscape. That is how every visitor of the tape art exibition finds its own interpretation of what is going on in this globalised world.

Der Pfahl der Spontanität

I present you now an old project from the last school year. The task was very creativ. I should build an element which would connect the floor with the ceiling. The solution of everything is the PALE OF SPONTANEITY.

The monkey freaks out

"Bluerang-Utan Baby", 2011
This is my brand new oilpainting. It is called "Bluerang-Utan Baby". You can watch it now also in my galery.
I'm very touched by these animals. They, the Orang Utans have so much to suffer. Only a fue of them live in small areas on the island of Sumatra. The forrest is cut down more and more. Monoculture instead of biodiversity. This is a big risk for the existance of the Orang Utan.
I was painting the orang-utan baby in blue (-> "Bluerang-Utan Baby"), because I want to show the nearly death of the species. The cold blue body is like symbol for a cadaver. But the monkey is alive. It is shown with innocent looking eyes and a smiling face. The fact that the orang-utan is a baby exacerbates the situation. Though it is still young, it is condemned to die with its whole species.
I wish that we could change the situation of the cute animal. In my opinion there no doubt about the right to live for the orang-utan. The animal resemble a lot the human being. The difference is that we are able to arrange the environment - we change the whole environmental process in the world. In every case we are doing it, because we are consuming.
The consumption rate is increasing more and more. The expansion rate of the human population is rising too and the struggle for existance and survival of so many plants and animals can not be won anymore.
To save for example the life of the orang-utan we have the change our consumer behavier. Please, have a look at yours.
